Judge's Remarks Firstly, I would like to thank the Rip Van Wrinkle Basenji Club for the privilege to be part of their wonderful event in Glenville NY at the end of June. I had a fantastic time – not only did I get to judge the conformation event, but all the other “fun classes” too. I even ultimately had to “tie” the 2 entries in the “Best Yodeler” class, each of their performances truly had every one of us in stitches. We were also blessed with absolutely perfect weather! The breeders and owners of the dogs in the conformation event should be proud of each and every dog entered, as every dog in there was not without several fine qualities – and the entry as a whole was comprised of all very good moving dogs with fantastic temperaments. I also believe that the youngsters that were entered very likely have promising careers ahead of them, in the show ring but perhaps on the field too. The event was very well-attended, quite a lot of people seemed to travel quite a distance to attend. We had some experienced handlers and some less-experienced handlers – but lots of very eager little Basenjis who were happy to be working with their owners in the ring. Each dog and owner team seemed to improve the longer they were in the ring, and ultimately my Best Puppy and Best Adult were two very nice, typey dogs with a lot of potential. 2011 Fund raiser raffle: ![]() 1.
