It is a great issue... I had  a chance to look through the whole thing at lunch!  The pix of the fun day are great!  "Someone" who likes veggies cleaned their plate - grin!  I always enjoy the quotes, too.

Lots of good stuff in the Wrinkler - including the recipes for people and for dogs.  That cheese & spinach pie creation looks yummy - one of my Greek Town favorites (yes, I sometimes go to Greek Town and don't eat meat!)....

It is good to have a publication that is mostly about people loving, enjoying and otherwise sharing their lives with their B's...

That's the whole point, really...  all the other aspects of "the fancy" are, to some degree or other (as a law school prof. of  mine was found of saying) parsiflage!!..........................................................KARLA SCHREIBER

How wonderful to re-live the happy ending to RiRi's story!

Great issue, as always! I especially enjoyed reading about the creation of the Sandy Eggo Basenji racetrack. I've seen the pictures but didn't know the background. All the photographs seemed exceptionally clear this issue. Interesting about Tramadol, as it was just prescribed for my Aussie, but I have some left from the Lab who passed. Haven't needed it for Obi, though. You work so hard on the Wrinkler, and it shows.

Thank you!....................................LOTTE HOTALING

FIRST WORDS (2004)

by Brenna Fender

My son is working on his first words.  They aren't clear, but he repeats them after you say them, so I know what he is trying to do.  He is only eleven months old, so it isn't like he is speaking really clearly or anything.  Especially since he didn't choose mama or dada or some-thing simple to delight us with.

Like a true dog trainer's son, his first words are... "GOOD DOG".

I think you popped the cork on this issue, Susan.  Best one yet!

What a wonderful collection of pictures, they just go on and on, and every one is wonderful.  Thank you for all the work that you do.

Omigosh, this is the best one yet, Susan.

What a boatload of gorgeous photos!.......................................CHRIS MAXKA

We were walking into dog park today and noticed this huge, like 5 feet tall, green recycling bin outside.   Evidently sponsored by Southern Eye Clinic for Animals, with Dr. Wolf, and who is that in the center photo but our late Nicky!  Don took the photo while Nicky was being examined and treated for a huge corneal ulcer, and sent it to Dr. Wolf! Really fun to see her a featured creature, haha!

He is an amazing man, did all the work on her eye, including scraping the cornea more than once, holding her just this way and crooning to her.  So she’s gone but not forgotten, immortalized on a recycling bin.  Actually appropriate as our garbage and recycling cans were her favorite things! .............................ANNE MACMILLAN

RiRi's story made me cry, then Fern's video made me smile.... HEPI ARMEN

SMALL WORLD

Hepi Armen

We just met Karen and her husband on Broadway when we were coming home from the dogrun, where we played with Xak!!!

Karen Sahulka

Roy and I were walking back to our car, up Broadway, and between 70th and 71st, we ran into Hepi with Benji in a stroller and the young miss Cybele on leash. It was a wonderful sight, and the dogs were very friendly. In fact we were greeted like family, which in a way, we were!

We were in the city for a Bemelmans weekend. The NY historical society had a really good show about him, and then that night we went to City Ballet to see three great Balanchine works. The last one, Firebird Suite, had the Chagall costumes and scenery (not too different from Bemelmans). The next day we walked through the park to the Carlyle for a drink at Bemelmans Bar, and to sit with his illustrations of said park on the walls. I had a club soda and Roy a coke.... The chance meeting with Hepi was just the kind of thing that Bemelmans would have illustrated.
