Basenjis are part magpie. Every time Joe cooks I go to Annie's crate to retrieve the spatulas and spoons that Gambit steals from the counter and hides in Annie's crate. She never hides them in her own crate, unless its a cream cheese container that she needs to lick out immediately, she leaves incriminating evidence on the whippets.

When we lived in NY we left the dogs out while the washer repair man was working in our laundry room, then we had to help him locate all his tools that the two basenjis had carefully removed from his tool box and hidden around the house, under pillows, cushions, in dog beds etc.

I tried to do a comparison picture with Zepar and Regan and this is what I got. You can tell who the really crazy one is though. They actually both took off running, having heard some phantom down in the yard. If you look closely, you can see Regan only has 2 feet on the ground.

See Page 10.

Ian's edict: a blanket is required for couch snuggling, no matter how too warm it is in the room.  Failure to provide a blanket may result in vigorous digging - upon my bod!

Great thing about puppies - all the dust bunnies get pulled out from under the furniture (and I get to see what they'd look like with beards).  Puppy Bennie and round cat Margot have a special alliance (though Margot loves all 4 puppies). This morning Bennie picked up Margot's tail and dragged her from the water dish into the nearby donut bed. She paid back this afternoon when he grabbed her tail just as she leaped for the bench, so he swung on it like Tarzan - landed a couple feet away and spun a few feet!

Short and silly:  Took my 3 for a walk this morning before daylight.   Up the block and started back, Chipley stops to poop, Ed assumes the position to Chip's left, and then Nicky to his right.  I had a 3 dog "simul-poop" in a neat semi circle, didn't even have to move to pick up all 3.  Never in all these years have they all formed a nice poop-circle like that for me, haha!  Only needed 1 bag, too!

Another 'short story':  We were out walking this evening and went past the home of some who neighbors have a pet white bunny.  This bunny often  sits outside in the driveway but the dogs have never noticed it.  Tonight Chipley did notice (fortunately no one else did) and they proceeded to stare each other down as we walked past.  Suddenly this little white bunny came hopping down the driveway and into the street right toward us!  Fearful of this pet becoming just a tasty memory, we hurried on our way.  The bunny went back to it's driveway and yard but sat watching us as we left.  Then I remembered that a co-worker who has 3 pet bunnies said they are very territorial and will fight fearlessly for their turf, so it started to make sense.

Brave little bunny chasing after my 3 basenjis, haha!  We did come home from another direction. Just in case.

I usually sit with my laptop on the couch with Tippy cuddling under one arm, Gloria under the other arm as I type. Dennis calls it my basenji carpel tunnel prevention team.

I had a choice.
To save the meatballs on our dinner table from food-hunting-basenji's
OR
Pick up the camera from the coffee table to make photos of this.
Unfortunately for you guys, I choose to save our meatballs

"Spinning" from our facebook page

Mary Beth Printsky Caesar flushed out a couple of birds while on a morning walk recently. Not bad for a dog who twirls and spins when he sees a small bug. My boy, he's no hunter. But, he is a great comedian.

Karen Christensen Caesar spins too?!?!? Ian's like a washing machine!

Susan Kamen Marsicano Remember Calliope did her breakdancing goat kicking spins?

Karen Christensen Hmmm, yeah, Blackbird effect?

Karen Christensen Calliope's spins seemed more celebratory than obsessive!

Lottie ELizabeth Hotaling Mikey was my only spinning Basenji but wow, was he a master at it!! Apu Michaelangelo (by Apu Blackbird out of Apu Cricketina Marsicano).

Mary Beth Printsky Caesar spins when he has to go out and poop. That's his sign with one front leg extended. He also does it to a new bone or toy. He is a crazy companion.

Mary Beth Printsky Caesar reminds me of the ice dancers/skaters when he spins.

Lotte ELizabeth Hotaling Bingo (Apu The Gold of Naples) would pirouette, one front leg high in the air, then spin; but Mikey was a spin-the-bottle.

Yvonne 't Mannetje Hahaha Ch'ami spins when he's happy, sounds like what Calliope was doing. And like Ceasar Dana spins when she has to go out and poop.

Mary Beth Printsky Caesar spins all of the time. He would have been a great ice dancer.

Dawn Crowell Donaldson Storm will spin ..... usually when she'd like to have her dish filled with food for supper. As we are still in our first year together, we're seeing more new stuff happen as we go along. She is really a very good girl.
