See this story:
Last night at 10:15pm, Shadow was finally captured. This was 39 days after she was spooked at a friend's birthday party, and ran away. She was found 8 miles from our home, hiding out at a dead end street. A resident on the street saw one of my posters and called me. Steve Hagey (Detect-A-Pet) has guided me this whole way and I can't thank him enough for his calm confidence and expertise.
Steve and his partner Christine built a trap last night and this is how it went down:
Shadow was led into the trap using a trail of treats and food. We were waiting in our cars, for the right moment. When shadow reached the back end of the enclosed area, the trap door was closed in an instant using a remote. Shadow was frantically looking for an exit. Christine and Steve entered while I secured the outside. Shadow almost escaped! She jumped up onto the guardrail then halfway over the fence, but they grabbed her just in time! She was panicked and was still not recognizing me, as I was on the outside just a few feet away.
I came in and as soon as I got next to her, her nose touched my pants. She got one good whiff of me and instantly was BACK! She started wagging her tail and licking my hands and trying to crawl into my lap. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. She is happy and healthy and back to normal. It's crazy. Again, thank you to everyone who has in ANY way helped to find Shadow.
Thank you to everyone for following this story and for caring. Human kindness is truly a gift to our species that knows no limits. I've been amazed and touched by everyone's support and love.
