As the Tail Turns

by Ashley Pistorio

Last night Raven went into a crazy puppy teething frenzy. She launched onto the couch and latched onto my arm like I was an ear of corn. I was stuck without a distractor at arm's reach. So I was screeching "ow ow ow no bite!" Desperately seeking the nearest authorized chew toy with my eyes.

Newton, who had been sitting with me and stood up startled when pirahnapup attacked, did what I think may be equivalent to me with my one raised eyebrow. He looked at the spectacle, one ear pointed forward, the other sideways, and paused. Then he jumped down, looked around, and grabbed one of the puppy-sized chew toys. He brought it up and placed it in front of her, and she promptly turned her choppers on the toy.

Problem solved.
