At the playground yesterday. It was still cold, brrr... but today spring is here. Yay! Nicholas LOVED the tire swing for his first time swinging together with sissy. We had to pry his hands off the chains when time to move on.

Hannah likes tire swings too, & Obike was just glad it had stopped for pic so that he wasn't at risk of getting hit in the head by the tire (occupational risk when taking a swing height dog to a playground). ...................................................................NATALIE CULVER

So, just back from emergency vet with Rose, who has a corneal puncture. Best I can figure it was some Japanese firethorn growing up through the fence, right at basenji-eye level. That’s consistent with Rip needing to go to Dr Zaccheo 3 weeks ago for the same not-gonna-open-my-eye symptoms where he had just a slight scratch.

Eye drops not so popular, but wink wink, dinner will fix things for her.

..................................................................KAREN CHRISTENSEN

Karen Christensen & I were talking about how Niner wrote some emails in August 2002, some to Tamara's Batsy D. Basenji, when she stayed chez Moot, while I visited Uschi.

Hallows Batsy, Senyore Comradness,

I am writing from Moot's comfuser. It is different
from Sue's so some of my thoughts and words might come
out differenter than usual. Life has changed a lot the
past couple of days and I need to get it off my chest,
so to speak:

I don't know where Sue is but Moot doesn't seem too
worried so I guess she didn't just fall off; she is
not here and hasn't been since jesterday. And I don't
know where my offspring etc from Sue's house are, but
somewhere near because Moot came home smelling like
them the second time she came home today. I smelled
all of them so they are OK.

I am staying at Moot's where there are Laser and
Cherry who are also mine, of course, and I loverester
them too. We are getting along fine except when Laser
jumped on me while I was seeping. Moot gets up too
early in the morning and goes away too long, but I get
a biskie when she comes back and breakfast this
morning was gooders -- goatmeal and some scrammled
oog, plus a thingy called a Kong with livvamush and a
biskie in it when she left. We each got one.

Last night we went for a walk after I had a nap after
Sue disappeared herself, the walk started out with me
seeing a cat right here that I seed before through the
fence, acshually I seed his rear as I approached so I
bitered it. It tasted like warm fur. Moot made me let
go so I don't know what the middle tastes like but I
hope I get to find out.

We seed lotsa other dogs including a cocker poop and a
frizzy bison (which is way smaller than you'd think).
We did not seed Bowie, the saluki friend Laser and
Cherry say they have, which makes me think they maded
him up. We dint see him again tonight either. I
collected hugs and kissies from a couple little girls
and even though I don't hear too well I did hear the
word "beautiful" in my presents a few times and I sume
they were talking about me. I ate all my dinner in the
kitchen next to the water dish, no probs.

Bed was weird last night. First, Moot sleeps upstairs
which I am not usedta. I had to go up and down to the
door a few times to be sure I knew how to do it. Her
bed is stuffed with birds, they prickle. And Sue was
not in it, but one other time I sleeped in the daybed
with Moot and my grandchilds and no Sue, and it was
OK. I got up one time and falled off the bed trying to
find the water bowl.

I don't know the routine here but I follow the other
dogs and they're pretty reliable. Moot pets me a lot
and I sleepered in her arms. I hope Sue gets found
soon, I miss her a lot, but for now this is OK. I just
wish I could see one of the cats up close....

Bye for now, BatMan,

yours,

9er

I want to say again how much I loved this issue.

To see Sydney, her daughters Casey and Flora, Miranda in the NW title list, and then Flora and Brady...and Jim!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means alot.

So many other wonderful stories and photos, and the huge brags as well.

WARNING - rant.

Aggravatingly stupid humans. Couple too busy talking to each other, not watching their 85# female German Shepherd. Put my two Britts on leash when we were a football field away. As we got closer and they made no attempt to leash their dog, I asked them to do so, an ineffectual "Tessa, here" and of course dear Tessa is galloping straight for us. Then the woman said, "oh we'll just keep walking past you" I told her that when you see dogs on leash it is polite to leash your dog as well (duh!). The GSD went rocketing past us (Thank God!) But Myles wanted to play, broke his sit and barked his playful bark at Tess ( but he was on leash, remember).

So the idiot man says, "I can see why your dog is on leash."

No, you need to see an optometrist and eat some fish - your brain needs a recharge because you totally missed the point! The upside is, that by the time this clueless couple came upon the man with the two Labs behind me, they DID put their dog on leash!

I really do try to see the positive in all things, but some humans make it more difficult than others.........................................KIM HATTON

Aubrey, continued from page 2

Stained glass memorial for Aubrey.
Stained glass memorial for Shadow.

Two basenjis: a black and white bitch named Shadow (owned by Jan Cook) and a red and white named Aubrey (owned by Susan Cook) were best friends.

When Shadow died tragically in October 2005, Susan took s favorite photo of the two of them, taken at dog camp in 2005, standing next to eachother in a field of flowers, to an artist, who made a stained glass with just Shadow in it.

Now so many years later (12), when Aubrey died, Jan Cook took the same photo to the same artist who did the second stained glass based on the photo, this time with Aubrey.

It is quite a lovely story. Both are fantastic creations but the memories of our girls are priceless. Those two girls, and their owners, very good friends.

Jackie Dering Made my day!

Lisa Marshall Oh my! What a wonderful issue as usual! I found some personal treasures in it! Baby Sydney playing peek-a-boo, Casey on the agility list for PACH points (the very bottom but how nice to see), Miranda in the nosework nacsw title list, and Flora and Brady and even latch key husband Jim in my story about loss and opportunity! The entire issue is a gem - thank you for your love and dedication to this super newsletter.

Wendy Hodges Love the image on the gas cylinder bell... the "Senji-signal" (equivalent of bat-signal, but calling for basenjis!).

Susan Kamen Marsicano Andrea's image.

Andrea Stone So many awesome accomplishments! Congrats RVWers!
